Experiential Education at its best...

Tina Newman, Assistant Director

I am originally from Sherman, Texas and now reside in Whitesboro. I attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University where I major in Zoology and minor in Conservation. I am also working towards my Raptor Handling Certification through the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center and work with birds of prey, including Red Tailed Hawks, American Kestrels, Peregrine Falcons, a Red Shouldered Hawk, a Screech Owl, and a Barn Owl. I am a Certified Facilitator in Project Flying WILD, and a Certified Educator in Project Learning Tree and Project WILD. I am also a member of our local chapter of Ducks Unlimited and am an amateur photographer.

Kim Render, Low Ropes Specialist

I was raised in Naperville IL which in the Chicago land area. I then went to Western Illinois University were I graduated with a degree in Zoology and a minor in Anthropology. I have always had a thrust for knowledge in the biology field and would like to further my education some time down the road.

Toni Walton, High Ropes Specialist

I am originally from Whitewright, Texas. During high school I started working at a YMCA summer camp where I developed a love for children and the outdoors.  Because of my passion for camp, I decided to major in Recreation & Leisure Studies at UNT.  I love teaching children, especially about nature and science.  I love to fish, hike, star gaze and study snakes.

Kelly Poe, Waterfront Specialist

I am a local to Pottsboro and have always loved being outdoors and learning about nature.  I graduated from Christendom College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  I was also a Certified Water Safety Instructor through the Red Cross and taught swimming during the summer for 5 years.  I loved teaching and working with kids, especially about something that I really loved and was interested in, which is what brings me to JOLT.

 Inaia Pheonix

I am originally from Albuquerque, NM.  I graduated Cum Laude from Southeastern OK State University in 2007 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology and a minor in Medical Sciences.  I am certified in Project Wild and LOVE working at JOLT.  I hope to one day attend a college of veterinary medicine.
